Ron Tagliapietra
Ron Tagliapietra was born in Chicago. In the mid-50s, he holds five degrees: BA from North Central College in math and psychology (double major), MS from the University of Oregon in math, BA from Pillsbury Baptist Bible College in Bible and Greek (double major), MA from Bob Jones University in Bible, and EdD from Bob Jones University in teaching (math). He has taught math at eight colleges and logic, juggling, and computer programming at some.
During his years of graduate study at Oregon, he became a born-again Christian, which explains why he then studied the Bible in Minnesota while he taught math. When he moved to South Carolina, he began writing books (over 40). Favorites among his books are Waterfalls of the States, The Great Adventurers of the 20th Century and The Southern Sixers, Math For God’s Glory. Others include Math For God’s Glory, The Seven Wonders of the World, Bible Preservation and the Providence of God and 150 South Carolina Waterfalls.
The remaining books are all texts or ancillaries for high school or junior high. Most texts are for math courses, but geography and logic texts (Better Thinking and Reasoning) are also included. Besides math and Bible, he loves the outdoors.
He has visited over 1000 US waterfalls (a few in Canada, Africa, & Israel) and climbed at least 300 US peaks. Peaks include the highest point in every state (except Alaska and Wyoming), 20 Colorado 14ers, 10 Cascade Volcanoes, 10 Green Mountain & White Mountain peaks, the 40 Southern Sixers, the highest 100 Eastern US peaks, and the highest peaks of over half of the counties in four states where he lived (Oregon, South Carolina, California, Arizona). He also enjoys caving and spelunking, white water rafting, sea-kayaking, skydiving, water skiing, rappelling, snorkeling, mountain biking, jogging, camping, canyoneering, backpacking, hiking, snow skiing, bushwhacking (off trail travel), visiting beaches, geysers, volcanoes and natural arches, taking African safaris, traveling, juggling both knives and flaming torches.
